Good Good by FGL
Ethos This song has ethos because the two members of the band helped take part in writing it (Anything). Florida Georgia Line always adds their own little style in the way that they portray and perform their music. They always have a lot of energy on stage and draw their audience in that way. By using words like "you" and "I", it builds a bridge to the audience and helps them to better connect to the song and interpret it in the way they want to. Pathos This song has pathos because it appeals to my emotions. My absolute favorite line is, "You wanna see the world, I'll be your ticket" (C, Collin), that to me appeals in a way that's hard to describe yet makes me happy. It's the underlying message of them trying to make whomever happy no matter what. I like the upbeat happy tone in the song. Feel good songs are the best songs to listen to. "Give me a chance to make your night, you know that I would"(C, Collin), is another way it appeals to my emotions by just making it seem like whomever is the only one they have eyes for and would do anything just for a chance. Logos This song has logos because it uses the common verse, refrain, verse, refrain type of set up. Their claim is clear in that they are specifically talking about one girl yet not using any names. The song describes a girl they are just first meeting and can't seem to take their eyes off of. The song is in first person so that it has their point of view, but you could easily relate it back to your own life. |
Leaving on a Jet Plane
Ethos This song has ethos because the group adds their own touch to it. The song written by one of their friends, John Denver (Peter). The song is very personal based by using words like "I", "me" and "you", but having no names making it easy to build a bridge with their audience. Listeners can relate the song back to their own lives very easily. By taking the song that was written by someone they knew, but adding their style to it makes the song have ethos. Pathos This song has pathos because it grabs onto your emotions with losing someone or having to leave someone you love behind. Saying, "So kiss me and smile for me, tell me that you'll wait for me" (ShoutFactoryMusic), shows how they feel about that person and how it's hard for them to leave, but they still wish for that person to remain happy. "Every song I sing I sing for you" (ShoutFactoryMusic), just strengthens how they feel for this other person and you can tell. The happy atmosphere that the instrumentation and vocalization make the song easy to listen to and lightens the mood behind the lyrics somewhat. Logos This song has logos because it has the verse, refrain, verse, refrain structure though out the song. The claim is clear in that someone is leaving and has to leave someone else they love behind. By describing how they feel through out the song makes it more personal. Using first person gives the audience the story within the song through the artists' point of view and by doing this it allows others to easily relate it back to their own lives. |
